I spent Lockdown 1 with my partner in Barons Court. It was great to be in a totally different visual environment and ‘forced’ to really look around me. Initially I focused on the view from one of the windows:
In the absence of a studio, I tried to make the whole house my studio, but I was particularly drawn to the reflections and surfaces in this bathroom:
While I was painting these I also did a bunch of still lifes and sold quite a few as part of the #artistsupportpledge on instagram (do check this out if you’re looking for some very affordable art – nothing is more than 200 pounds/dollars/euros):
Towards the end I ventured out to do this commissioned painting of Palliser Road:
Meanwhile, when not painting, I took lots of photographs in Margravine Cemetery:
Everything was going fine, until I was abducted by a mad hairdresser:
Hope you’re all well – Lockdown 2 post coming soon!
Hey Paul,
Thank you so much – I really enjoyed seeing what you’ve been doing!
I think I might like to buy some affordable still life on my lock-down budget. Can you send me some examples? I don’t do instragram and have no idea of how to go about it.
This Christmas we are locked down in Italy. God knows when I’ll next get over to the UK. It’s not so bad though – it’s pretty and we’re cosy in our little house.
Lots of love to you and also lovely Nadia xxxx
Don’t give our beloved government the idea that locking us up improves creativity. It will be just another excuse for more of same next year.
Though the evidence in your case Paul is very compelling. Very fine work around the house. And in the cemetery. I have a friend of a friend who also is a frequenter (haunter?) of the Margravine, usually accompanied by a beagle called Bertie, should you ever collide.
More please!
